What is visa support and when do you need it? Many people think the service is simply carrying the documents to the embassy.
In fact most of the work is done before you ever reach the embassy. The country you apply to has to be chosen correctly, every box on the application has to match the documents, the bank statement has to have its own logic, the bookings along the route have to line up with each other, and an appointment has to be found.
Most refusals come precisely from mistakes at this stage. Visa support means eliminating those mistakes before you go to the embassy.
In this article we explain what a visa support service covers, what it cannot cover, how the process goes, the prices and the ways of telling a reliable service apart from a scam.
What does a visa support service cover?
| Choosing the country and visa type | The main country of travel rule, a C or D visa, single entry or multiple |
| An individual document list | Separately for an employee, a business owner, a student, a pensioner and a child |
| Filling in the application | The Schengen form, DS-160, e-Konsulat, UDI and other portals |
| Bookings | Hotel and flight reservations, insurance, the itinerary |
| The appointment | VFS, TLScontact, Capago, BLS, the embassy queue |
| Interview preparation | For the US, Britain, Canada and long-term visas |
| Tracking | The status of the application, requests for extra documents, getting the passport back |
The service differs by country. For Schengen the main work is the document package and the appointment, for the US it is the DS-160 form and interview preparation, and for countries with an electronic visa it is filling in the form without mistakes and telling the official portal apart from an intermediary. On a trip to a visa-free country the support is not about the visa but about the border requirements, the registration rules and the route.

What can visa support not guarantee?
No agency can guarantee that a visa will be issued, because only the consulate makes that decision. Promises like «100% guarantee», «we have a contact at the embassy» and «we give your money back if you are refused» are either empty words or a hint at forged documents. When an application with a fake employment letter or bank statement is detected, the result is not one refusal but a ban on entering the whole Schengen zone for years. A reliable visa support service tells you your real chances, points out the weak spots and, when necessary, advises you «not to apply yet». The European Commission also advises applicants to use only official channels and not to believe intermediaries’ promises; the official explanation is given on the visa policy page of the European Commission.
How the process goes: from application to passport
- Consultation. The purpose of the trip, the dates, the route and the financial situation are established; which country and which type of visa to apply for is decided.
- The document list. A list suited to your situation is given: what you have, what is missing, what has to be obtained from the bank or the workplace.
- Preparation. The application is filled in, the bookings are made, the insurance is bought, and the documents are checked and put in order.
- The appointment. A time is taken at the visa centre or the embassy, you hand in the documents in person and your fingerprints are taken.
- Tracking. The status is checked, extra documents are prepared if asked for, and when the passport arrives the visa details are read through for accuracy.
One point should be known in advance: fingerprints and the interview require you to be there in person, and nobody can do that for you. Visa support takes you to the appointment fully prepared, but you go to the appointment yourself.

What does visa support cost?
The cost has three parts and they have to be kept separate.
The first is the consular fee, paid directly to the state. For Schengen 35 euros, for the US 185 dollars and for Britain 135 pounds.
The second is the visa centre’s service charge. It ranges from 21 to 30 euros and is paid only in countries that work with a centre.
The third is the agency’s service fee. At Viza.az that fee starts from 95 manats for Schengen and most countries and from 150 manats for the US, Britain and Canada, and does not include the consular fee.
The fees are shown on each country’s own page. If a price is called «all inclusive», ask in writing what is included.
How do you recognise a reliable visa support service?
- It does not promise a guarantee, it explains your real chances.
- It shows the official fees and its own fee separately.
- It does not forge documents and refuses when that is suggested.
- It has an address, a telephone number and a formal contract.
- It obtains electronic visas only from the official portal, not from intermediary sites.
- In the event of a refusal it explains the reason and shows you the next step.
Tickets and tours: plan them together with the visa support
The most common mistake is buying the ticket before the visa. The embassy does not require a paid ticket, a reservation is enough; starting the search for a cheap air ticket after the visa is in your hands saves both money and nerves. For those travelling in a group, foreign travel tour packages prepare the bookings, the route and the visa documents together, and the tour operator handles the main country calculation.
Frequently asked questions about visa support
Does visa support reduce the chance of a refusal?
Yes, because most refusals come from technical mistakes: mismatched dates, the wrong country, an incomplete file. Once those are removed, the decision is based on your real situation.
Can I prepare the documents myself?
Of course. The country articles on this site are there for exactly that.
Support, though, saves time and reduces the risk of a mistake in complicated cases. A previous refusal, being self-employed or a sponsored trip are such cases.
If I am refused, is the service fee returned?
The service fee is charged for the work done, not for the result; the consular fee is not returned under any circumstances. Unlike agencies that promise a «guarantee», we say this openly in advance.
In closing
Visa support is not getting the visa in your place, it is getting the application to the right address without mistakes. Whichever country you are going to, look first at that country’s page, then fill in the application form and let the Viza.az team prepare the document list to suit your situation.
