France is among the most requested Schengen visas in Azerbaijan, for the simplest of reasons: Paris. But Capago, the French embassy’s visa centre in Baku, takes documents not only for France but also for Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden, so the queue there is always tight. The appointment is where most of the time goes in a French application.
This article walks through the whole process, from filling in the form on france-visas to handing over documents at Capago, along with the costs, the paperwork and the direct Baku–Paris flight.

Getting a France visa, step by step
- Open an account on france-visas. The application is completed online on France’s official visa portal. Based on your answers the system builds your document list and lets you print the form. Keep that list: Capago checks against it.
- Book an appointment at Capago. Register on the Capago site and pick a slot. In summer and before New Year the first free slot can be three or four weeks away, so look at the calendar the same day you fill in the form.
- Hand in the documents. On the day, come to the Globus Center; the file is checked, fingerprints are taken, the fee and service charge are paid in manat.
- Wait. Your passport goes to the French embassy. A decision usually comes within 15 days. You can follow the status on the Capago site.
- Collect your passport. In person at the centre or by courier.
You may apply up to six months before the trip, and for France it is worth using that. The official rules are on the Azerbaijan page of the France-visas portal.

What does a France visa cost?
The consular fee is 35 euros under the Azerbaijan–EU agreement, where citizens of other countries pay 90. Capago’s service charge for citizens of Azerbaijan is 30 euros, paid in manat at the centre’s current rate. With insurance, photographs and translations, the total for one person comes to roughly 150 manat. Capago’s extras, such as courier delivery and SMS updates, are charged separately and are optional.
Documents for a France visa
What the French embassy watches is whether the bank statement matches the travel plan. A hotel booking for seven days in Paris alongside an account holding the equivalent of 300 euros is a mismatch, and a reason for refusal.

How to get from Baku to Paris
AZAL flies direct between Baku and Paris Charles de Gaulle two to four times a week, a journey of about five hours and fifty minutes. Connections through Istanbul run daily and are often cheaper. Baku–Paris fares climb around Novruz, the summer holidays and December, so buy the ticket as soon as the visa comes through.
First-time visitors to Paris, especially families heading to Disneyland with children, often choose a ready-made programme. A Paris tour package bundles the hotel, transfers and excursions, and the visa documents are prepared together with the operator. The visa still goes through Capago; the operator only helps assemble the file.
Frequently asked questions about the France visa
How long does a France visa take?
The embassy usually decides within 15 days, up to 30 in high season. Add the wait for a Capago appointment and the whole process runs four to seven weeks.
Does it cover Monaco and Andorra?
Yes. Monaco operates as part of the Schengen area, and Andorra can only be entered from France or Spain, where a multiple-entry Schengen visa is enough.
What to do after a refusal?
You have two months to appeal, first to the embassy and then to the special commission in Nantes. In practice, removing the reason and applying again produces a faster result.
In closing
A France visa is an ordinary Schengen process; the difficulty is the Capago appointment and the season. Start early and keep the documents consistent, and there is no problem. The Viza.az team helps complete the france-visas application, book the Capago appointment and prepare the file to the embassy’s requirements.
