For most people applying for a Poland visa the problem is not the paperwork but the queue. The Polish embassy in Baku does not work with a visa centre: documents go straight to the embassy, and appointments come only through the e-Konsulat system. Slots are released in batches and sometimes fill within hours. This article explains how to catch an e-Konsulat slot, the category rule that changed in 2026, the documents and the flight options from Baku to Warsaw.

How to catch an e-Konsulat slot
You register on the Polish Foreign Ministry’s e-Konsulat portal, select the Baku consulate and the visa type, complete the form online and take an appointment when one is free. The embassy announces on its site when slots are released, usually on certain days in the morning. Being a few minutes late means losing the slot, so keep your account and application ready in advance. The announcements appear on the Polish embassy’s e-Konsulat availability page.
Since March 2026 there is a new rule: when booking you must select the exact purpose — tourism, business or family visit — and if the documents do not match the category chosen, the application is not accepted. In other words, you cannot take a tourism slot and turn up with an invitation letter.

Documents for a Poland visa
Poland is also a popular study destination, and student visa enquiries in Baku are as frequent as tourist ones. The long-stay «D» visa is a separate category obtained through the same e-Konsulat system, but with a different document list and fee.

How to fly from Baku to Warsaw
LOT Polish Airlines flies direct to Warsaw in about four and a half hours; the alternative is Turkish Airlines or Pegasus via Istanbul. Baku–Warsaw fares rise over Christmas and the summer holidays; February and March are the cheapest months. Krakow is two and a half hours from Warsaw by fast train.
Poland also works well as the start of a Central European route: Warsaw, Krakow, Prague and Vienna fit on one visa in Poland tour programmes, and the visa is requested for the country where you spend the most days.
Frequently asked questions about the Poland visa
How long does it take?
The embassy states 10 to 15 working days. The real delay is the e-Konsulat queue, so start two or three months before you travel.
I cannot find a slot on e-Konsulat — what now?
Log in ahead of time on the days the embassy announces, and fill in the application in advance. Do not believe intermediaries promising a «guaranteed slot» — the embassy does not sell appointments.
Can you cross into Germany on a Polish visa?
Yes, a Schengen visa covers the whole area. Poland simply has to be your main destination.
In closing
In fees and paperwork the Poland visa is an ordinary Schengen visa; the difficulty is the e-Konsulat queue and getting the category right. The Viza.az team helps with e-Konsulat registration, watching for slots and preparing documents that match the category chosen.
