Bahrain visa in 3–5 days: the online eVisa, the fees and direct flights with Gulf Air

Bahrain is among the easiest visas to obtain in the Gulf for citizens of Azerbaijan. No trip to the embassy, no documents to hand in, no interview. You fill in the form on the official government portal, pay the fee, and the answer arrives by e-mail within a few working days.

Because Gulf Air flies direct from Baku to Manama, Bahrain works both as a short break and as a base for combined routes around the Gulf. This article covers the eVisa types, the fees, the documents required and the fine print of travelling there.

Do you need a Bahrain visa?

Yes, but in electronic form. Citizens of Azerbaijan apply online through Bahrain’s official eVisa portal. A visa on arrival is also available, but applying online is safer: there is no queue at the border and the airline can see at check-in that you hold a visa. We always recommend getting it online beforehand.

Visa types and fees

Tourists have three options. The single-entry visa allows a two-week stay, must be used within 30 days and costs 9 dinars. The three-month multiple-entry visa costs 16 dinars and allows any number of entries in that period, which suits anyone touring the Gulf. The one-year multiple-entry visa is 44 dinars and permits stays of up to 90 days per entry; frequent business travellers choose it.

The fee is paid by card and is not refunded whatever the outcome. Because fees can differ by nationality, you will see the exact amount on Bahrain’s official eVisa portal once you enter your passport details. Apply through that portal rather than a middleman site — middlemen charge two or three times as much for the same visa.

Which documents do you upload?

Everything must be uploaded in English or with an English translation. You can ask your bank for the statement in English; most Azerbaijani banks provide it.

The application, step by step

  1. Open an account on the evisa.gov.bh portal.
  2. Select your nationality and the visa type; the system shows which options are open to you.
  3. Fill in the form and upload the documents.
  4. Pay the fee by card.
  5. The answer arrives by e-mail within 3 to 5 working days. Print the visa and carry it with your passport — at the border they look at both.

One piece of advice: apply at least ten days before the trip. The system sometimes asks for an extra document, which stretches the timeline.

How to get from Baku to Bahrain

Gulf Air flies direct between Baku and Manama twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, in about four hours. On other days you can connect through Doha, Dubai or Istanbul. Baku–Bahrain fares sit in the middle of the Gulf range; because Gulf Air’s frequencies are limited, buy the ticket as soon as your dates are firm.

Bahrain is joined to Saudi Arabia by a 25-kilometre causeway and is an hour’s flight from Dubai, so many people treat it as part of a Gulf route rather than a destination on its own. You could travel on a Dubai tour and continue to Bahrain from there; a multiple-entry Bahraini visa plus the UAE’s visa-free regime for citizens of Azerbaijan is all you need.

Worth knowing before you go

  • Season. November to April is comfortable; in summer the temperature passes 45 degrees.
  • Money. The Bahraini dinar is one of the world’s most valuable currencies, about 4.5 manat to the dinar. Cards work everywhere.
  • Customs. Bahrain is among the Gulf’s more liberal countries, but respect for dress and behaviour in public is expected. During Ramadan, eating and drinking in public during daylight is restricted.
  • Formula 1. The Bahrain Grand Prix runs in March or April; that week hotels fill up and prices multiply.

Frequently asked questions about the Bahrain visa

Can you get the visa at the airport?

You can, but it is not advisable. The airline may ask for a visa at check-in in Baku, and there are queues at the airport. Since the online visa comes through in 3 to 5 days, it is worth waiting.

Can you cross into Saudi Arabia on a Bahrain visa?

No, Saudi Arabia requires a visa of its own. Citizens of Azerbaijan can get a Saudi eVisa online too, but it has nothing to do with the Bahraini one.

Can the visa be extended?

You can apply to the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs office inside the country, but it costs an extra fee and takes time. If you are staying long, taking the three-month or one-year visa up front is simpler.

In closing

A Bahrain visa is fifteen minutes of online work with an answer in 3 to 5 days. What matters is applying through the official portal, six months of passport validity and uploading the documents in English. The Viza.az team helps with the eVisa application, the paperwork and planning combined routes around the Gulf.
