Visa types for Romania

Since 1 January 2025 Romania has been a full member of the Schengen area and issues Schengen visas. In Baku applications are submitted directly to the Romanian embassy; there is no separate visa centre.

The consular fee is 35 euros and no additional service charge is collected. A reply usually comes within 10 to 15 working days. Schengen membership is recent, so older sources may still show national visa rules.

Bucharest, Brașov, Sibiu and the castles of Transylvania are the main destinations. Mountain routes are especially popular in winter. Viza.az prepares the documents with the new Schengen membership rules in mind.

Business owners submit a copy of the tax registration, a turnover certificate from the tax office and a register extract instead; students submit a letter from their institution.
