Visa types for Kenya

Since 2024 Kenya has dropped the classic visa system and applies an electronic travel authorisation to all foreign visitors. This authorisation is called the eTA and covers Azerbaijani citizens too.

The application is made entirely online: you fill in the form, upload a passport scan, a photo, your accommodation booking and return tickets, and pay the fee by card. The confirmation arrives by email and is presented at the border.

The authorisation allows a stay of up to 90 days and can be applied for three months before the arrival date. The official advice is to apply at least three days before the trip, since processing can take up to 72 hours. Anyone planning a safari route may also be asked for a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Viza.az checks these details in advance.

Processing can take up to 72 hours. The official advice is to apply at least three days before the trip; there is also a paid option for priority processing.

A vaccination certificate is required in some cases — particularly for travellers arriving from a country classed as a risk zone. If you are planning a safari route it is sensible to prepare this document in advance.

No. The fee is charged for processing the application and is not returned even if the authorisation is refused.

Yes. A separate authorisation must be obtained for every traveller, infants and children included. Only citizens of the East African Community member states are exempt from this requirement.
