Azerbaijani citizens can travel to Georgia without a visa. Under Georgian Order No. 255 you may stay in the country continuously for up to one year — more generous than the 90 days set out in the bilateral agreement. A valid international passport is required at the border; crossing with an ID card is not possible.
Requirements can differ between land border and airport crossings, so check the rules that apply to your route in advance. To stay longer than a year, work or study, a separate residence permit must be arranged. Bear in mind that entry can be problematic for anyone who has crossed into Abkhazia or South Ossetia outside Georgian control.
Tbilisi, Batumi and Gudauri are the most frequently visited destinations from Azerbaijan, and you can get there by car, train or plane. Hotel prices shift considerably with the season, and booking early pays off. Viza.az helps with tickets, hotels and transfer planning.
